I have just received the attached pictures from an ex-B.I.friend now living in Brisbane which I thought you might be interested in.
The tide gauge is in a small park near Breakfast Creek which is on the north side of the Brisbane river,
opposite the suburb of Bulimba and as you can see it has the BI crest on it. See inscriptions for explanation.
The park is near the Breakfast Creek Hotel which in turn was near either the New Stead or New Farm wharfs, where many B.I.ships used to berth.
The Hotel, apparently, is the most famous pub and steak restaurant in Brisbane,
built in 1880 and many BI personnel would have no doubt gone there if they were alongside those wharfs in Brisbane.
