Pension Fund
Latest addition : Letter :
Many members have been campaigning for a long time to make the Pension Fund more accountable and open.
Many of us had become angry at the Fund and Trustees. We had had enough of the owners' mushroom syndrome which it would appear had been transferred from the Boardroom to the Pension Fund.
Anyway we may or may not achieve our objective, the Forum in London is tomorrow, only time will tell. (Reports now published on Forum Reports page)
I would like to extend my best regards to all of you who are maiking the trip, I sincerely hope that the meeting is enlightening and that all sides reach accord.
Last night the site was visited by a retired member whose letter in full is in the Guest Book, I quote partly from it here:
"There is another aspect of our industry/service, call it what you will, that must surely benefit from more open-ness, that of ship safety, training and marine administration, generally. All too frequently one reads of the amount of paper-chasing and bureaucracy that working seafarers are lumbered with, of fatigue and inifferently trained staff, to which the answer seems only to be set up another committee. Things are happening today that some of the older members of our community foresaw years ago- and nobody seemed to listen."
What are your opinions, can anything be done? Any views appreciated, if required anonymity guaranteed. Come on it's your site, USE IT.
