My Father was CO on board mv Seistan on the night she exploded on 17th of February 1958. Luckily he survived together with my mother and brother who were on board at he time (or i wouldnt be here writing this note).
My brother, holds photgraphs (taken by the insurance company) together with plans of the ship, and cuttings from Newspapers published following the disaster which i have seen and wondered exactly how they survived! The ships bell is now used to call children to class in an village in Africa
Would be extremely interested to hear from anyone who has photographs or tales of the disaster.
