Dear Sir,

It is my pleasure to inform you that this year’s reunion will be held in the Buchanan Suite at the Ramada Glasgow City Hotel, which is situated on Ingram Street, Glasgow. This is our usual venue.

The reunion date is Thursday 15th September 2005. The cost of luncheon will be £21.00; this is a better price than last year and reflects Alastair’s negotiating skills. This does not include wine; any wine ordered will be to your own account.

The bar in the Buchanan Suite will be open from noon and we will dine at 1.00 pm prompt. The bar will remain open until at least 4.00 pm. Last year we were able to use the Buchanan Suite beyond the 4.00pm deadline, this was much more enjoyable for us and moves are afoot to do the same this year. Outside these hours there are other bars in the hotel that we can frequent!

Please do not send your remittance to me as this will only cause unnecessary delay, you can of course send any other correspondence or enquiries to me. Alastair has to confirm our numbers with the hotel by the 31st August 2005, so it is essential that he receive your cheque by that date.





We look forward to the wives of members accompanying their husbands joining us after lunch and it goes without saying that any other B.I. staff visiting the hotel will be made very welcome.

I have negotiated with the hotel for a preferential rate for those who may wish to stay at the hotel. This year rooms are very limited and can only be offered on a room only basis at £72 for a twin/double. If you wish to take up this offer please don’t leave it to the last minute. The number for the hotel is 0141 248 4401.

Alternatively you could stay where quite a few of us do at the Merchant Lodge Hotel. The Merchant Lodge is quite literally round the corner from the Ramada. The tariff there is £62 for a twin/double. This is for bed & breakfast (the best breakfast in Scotland). They do not offer a special rate. Availability at the time of writing is good. The phone number is 0141 552 2424.

The luncheon menu is:


Chicken Liver Pate with Seasonal Leaves and Cumberland sauce

Leak and Potato soup

Roast Lamb served with Red Wine and Mint Jelly

Choux Pastry Buns filled with a mixture of Tia Maria and Brandy Cream coated with a . White and Dark Chocolate sauce



There is a vegetarian alternative for those who want it. The vegetarian option is not specified but the hotel will need to know in advance if you want this alternative. Please indicate if you want it when you send your cheque to Alastair.

If you know of any other B.I. Engineer or Electrical Officers who are not members of our association please let me know and I will write to them and invite them to join us.

If you are unable to attend our luncheon and want a message passing to anybody please let me know and I shall do my best to facilitate this.
