Many years ago a book was written in Russia, I believe it might have been called ‘The Book of Destiny’. The title is really unimportant, what is important is its content. What the book contained was the outline of a worldwide conspiracy by a religious group and it was alleged to have been written by the said same group.
In fact this book had been written by advisors to the incumbent government to deflect criticism from its own incompetence. The book circulated worldwide and to a certain extent in certain quarters was believed to be, if it suited, true. The book was later to become the foundation for Hitler’s rise to power and its horrific consequences. Idi Amin used it and more recently, Robert Mugabe. The truth is all Governments use it. Thankfully most to a lesser extent than the aforementioned despots. In a nutshell what the powers that be have to do is first identify a minority in its population, that minority group must have virtually no responsive ability whatsoever and the rest is simple. The mindless mass takes over, as history had proved it works time and time again. You can say whatever you want, no proof or truth is required, all you need is a platform to air your views. In fact you don’t even have to exist, you can be a fabrication. Now I shall come to the point. In May’s Merchant Navy Telegraph a letter has been printed. It purports to be from Member 158510, as in all cases like this no name, remember you don’t need one. Firstly it covers the truth, and that is to further cut all active members options and accrual rates. Have we got your attention? Now for the untruths. 1. It states that all Officers who left on medical grounds, who were with Townsend, Sealink and P&O, did so fraudulently. It also states that the Companies were compliant. 2. Many scooped both redundancy and medical severance, made miraculous recoveries and now have better-paid jobs, big company cars, big houses and enjoy luxury holidays. 3. Almost all Radio Officers, after being made redundant, developed the ‘Unfit for Sea’ syndrome. 4. It states that those that are left are now paying the bill for all the fraudsters and had it not been allowed to happen the Fund wouldn’t be in the undisputed mess that it now finds itself. 5. Future generations of Officers will now be joining their ships in fleets of ambulances, all because past Officers are liars and cheats. So there you have it, out of six points five unsubstantiated claims but it achieved its purpose, seeds of doubt, suspicion and distrust, an ‘us and them’ situation is being nurtured and its the very organisation whose concept is supposedly to protect the vulnerable whose nurturing the fallacies. The letter has been printed by NUMAST in the full knowledge that it contains nothing but untruths but they have published nevertheless. What you have to ask yourself is why? Now I must close, I’m off on my luxury holiday in the Bahamas leaving my big car parked at my big house in the knowledge that someone else is picking up the tab. As of today 15th May I have not recieved "The Telegraph". The quote which follows along with the letter have been forwarded to me, it is the only reference to big cars, houses, etc.. "There are no proposals to change the current ill health benefits. The shipowners were guilty of gross abuse of the previous ill-health system." It would appear that its open house on writing whatever you like however libellous it may be. We have recently discovered that the book which is referred to in the above letter is called "The protocols of the learned elders of Zion" written about 1897. |
